Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT) has arranged a business delegation from Punjab to visit Australia from June 12th – 27th, 2010. Led by the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, this visit is facilitated by Australia Trade Commission (AUSTRADE) which has arranged a series of business to business meetings across four main cities (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth) of Australia.
The objective of this visit is to source specialist expertise and technology from Australia in the fields of Agribusiness, Livestock, Dairy, Technical and Vocational Training and Mining. The Australian technology sourcing will help facilitate local companies to partner with international companies. An MOU will also be signed between PBIT, AUSTRADE and DEDC (Dubai Export Development Corporation) during this visit.
In Brisbane main sectors of focus are agriculture, dairy, food, beverages and mining companies; Perth again has strong agriculture, mining and arid cattle stations and Melbourne capital of Victoria State is eminent for cattle and livestock.
The delegation comprises of members from the Government of Punjab, and 20 members from the Private Sector that are approved and pre screened for inclusion based on their business credentials and recommendations from the Chambers of Commerce.
The visit is in continuation of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) forum. The choice of Australia as a sourcing destination has been made on the basis of the support shown by the Australian Government to Pakistan at this forum.
Australia has world class capability in Agribusiness key areas and the focus of the delegation would be to gain exposure to their best practices, field visits and business meetings with Australian companies for matchmaking.
